Geoff is an Associate Professor in GIScience at the University of Calgary, Department of Geography, and an ISEEE fellow. One day Geoff came home to find his newly built house... cold. This worried Geoff, as he took great pride in his triple pane Low-E windows, his high-energy efficiency furnace and his R50+ attic insulation... and yet his home remained... cold. He thought to himself '...wouldn't it be great if I could pull out my mobile device, click on Google Maps, tap on my house, and automatically bring up a thermal image showing me where the waste heat was leaving my house, how much it was costing me (in terms of money and green-house gases), where to go to get it fixed, and how much I could save if it was done correctly... and even better, what if I could do this all for free?' ... and so the HEAT project was born.
Chris has a BSc in Computer Science, a Masters in GIS and is the HEAT System Engineer. Chris is an all-round everything computational kinda guy, and has hitch-hiked around the world. His family owns a 'sugar-shack' in Québec, Canada.
Bharani has a BEng in GeoInformatics and is currently a Geography MSc Candidate. His research interests are in Web-enabled GIS and related frameworks, Open Source Software and automatic feature detection from remote sensing imagery. Bharani is an all-round programming guru, able to solve all things GeoWeb'ish.
Isa is a French engineer (Electronics) and has a PhD in Sciences for Engineering with a specialisation in Image Processing. After more than 8 years as a faculty member in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, she went on a new career path becoming a geomatics consultant in Image Processing/Remote Sensing and a private tutor in math, sciences and French. She has worked on very high spatial resolution and multi-spectral urban imagery as well as thermal imagery of environment. She joins the team as the senior image processing specialist and senior remote sensing analyst.
Mustafiz has a BSc in Urban and Regional Planning, and an MSc in Remote Sensing and GIS. He is currently a Geography PhD candidate and the lead on urban remote sensing image analysis. He is newly married... for now, and he smiles a lot.
Bilal has a BSc in Geography from University of Calgary, and is currently an MSc student at the same institution with specific research interest in geospatial technologies such as GIS, GeoWeb, RS. For his thesis, Bilal is developing a volunteered geographic information system for supporting urban energy efficiency. He loves cartography, graphic design and web development, photography, as well as watching science-fiction movies.
